NHRC Sundaraswami - Polonnaruwa
NHRC Sundaraswami - Polonnaruwa
(SKU: LSB1005681) It represents Sundaraswami, who is devoted to the worship of Shiva. This sculpture dates back to the twelfth century A.C. The use of bronze as a material for this creation indicates that it was made during the Polonnaruwa period. Within the Shiva religion, he is considered one of the sixty-three saints. Sundaraswami writes Hindu stotras called "Thevarams" and sings them from temple to temple. Showcasing handsomeness and youthfulness, this sculpture shows tribhanga features, and the hand gesture shows Katakahastha Mudra. The sculpture is presently on exhibit in Colombo's National Museum.
