Known as Kottamba in Sri Lanka and more commonly known as Indian Almond or the Umbrella Tree around the world, Terminalia catappa is a large tropical tree native to Asia. The leaves of the tree are large, long and broad while they have a leathery effect. They are rich in good chemicals and in some countries used in different herbal medicines for various purposes. Lakpura dehydrated Terminalia catappa leaves are handpicked and collected from Sri Lankan home gardens while its 100% natural.
Kottamba leaves or catappa leaves which some people call them are commonly used among aquarium owners due to the positive effects that they show. It is used to condition the water by lowering the pH levels and metal content that may be present. Used among fish breeders for many years, the leaves have the potential to be active against some bacterial pathogens and parasites. It is also known for the mild anti bacterial and anti fungal properties. It has the ability to absorb water and can remain in the tank until it’s completely dissolved.
